DOA Newbie. I have questions
Hi guys. Pardon the newbie questions. I checked wiki first but didn't find my answer.
I finished NF on my elementalist a few months ago and was really looking forward to exploring DOA with her......only to find out that Ele's weren't really welcomed anymore. Dang ursan!! (But that's another subject) So I set to work getting my warrior rushed thru NF. She was already in Vabbi so it wasn't a long trip. I've now finished NF and I'm currently grinding out my Norn and LB titles so that I'll be more accepted in groups. I've managed so far to reach Rank 9 Norn and Rank 7 LB. This has gotten me a slot on a few DOA teams. I join the ones spamming "GLF 2 more ursans" and ignore the ones spamming "GLF 10/8 Ursan ONLY!!!! Must have Cons!!!!" I've learned that if you pretty much keep your mouth shut and do what everyone else is doing, you can bluff it. Also bringing (and willing to use) a conset goes a long ways. I've heard no complaints about my performance from my teammates yet. I've completed foundry 3 times. City 3 times. Gloom twice and the Veil once. Now I have some questions. 1. How exactly do you obtain primeval armor remnants? On my first trip into DOA, I joined a group that wanted to finish Foundry and the city. We completed both sections and I got armor from both chests. Cool. Olias and Zenmai now have new duds. Since then I've completed the other sections, including foundry and city again and haven't received any more armor. Can you only get it once per chest? Then why didn't I get any from the gloom and veil chests? Do I need to defeat mallyx before earning anymore? 2. I've done all 4 sections in NM. All of my trips have been in NM. Can I join a HM team for Mallyx? Or would he be locked for me? 3. So, any other advice you can offer? So far, I've learned: "DO NOT take the quest from Tellyx in the foundry!!!!!" (I didn't. Most leaders have been good about mentioning that when we reach him) "DO NOT kill The Darkness's in Ravenheart Gloom if there are Earth tormentors around!!!!!" (oops ) "DO NOT take the quest from the guy at the start of Stygian Veil until all Ursans are in place!!" (I didn't but got blamed for it anyways when someone else on the team did) So far I really enjoy pugging this area. It seems to be a lot easier than the nightmare stories I've heard, but I suspect going as an Ursan has a lot to do with the ease of the mission. I've been joining teams on the European server. They seem nicer than Americans and much more willing to accept my level 7 LB warrior. Next up, Mallyx! |

Unless you are a lame Ursan, you won't get accepted. They still work (mass AoE knockdown + 300 damage in few seconds is still ftw), but people are just lazy morons. So yeah, no point in finishing NF. You can solo farm in Stygian Veil or City of Torc'qua (did I write it correctly?), though.

To answer the OP's questions...
1) Armor remnants show up in your inventory at random when you complete an area (spawn a chest). You can get them more than once per area, but it's random each time. 2) Yes, you can do Mallyx in HM. 3) Other advice? Go in as something other than an Ursan group. You may need guildies for this, but I don't get the whole Ursan thing. If the build REQUIRES consumables, is it really that good? You will find DoA much more rewarding in a mixed party. |

Let me know where I can find a non-ursan team and I'll gladly join up. Quote:

I will usually tell the team that this was my first time in the area once we've completed the run. Most of the time my team is shocked to hear that. They thought I was an old pro like the rest of them. (Yep, keeping my mouth shut and doinging what everyone else does really works!! ) |

2. You can kill mallyx in hard mode once you have done the 4 areas. (it will give you 2 green drops from mallyx's chest) most groups do it this way, but a full Hard mode run nets you alot of gems ALOT. 3. Just know your targets and which ones to kill first. and listen to the party leader or who every is leading the group. |

O.o Eles aren't welcome in doa anymore? Quite frankly, like most elite areas, if you do anything but ursan its going to take a while to get a group. Eles are actually welcome. I've been in several ursan groups with my ele (have to be 10/8 tho if you want to be picked up right away) I've done it the old fashioned way too but at this point it's more time consuming and frustrating (plus gl finding a group doing it that way unless your guild does it)
